Crypto Airdrops in October 2026: What's Actually Paying, What's Confirmed, and What's Just Hope
Short answer: Only one big-name airdrop is paying out right now: Grass's Stage 2 rewards, about $3 million in USDC, claimable at app.grass.io until 22 January 2027. The catch is that it only counts bandwidth shared before 8 June 2026. Polymarket, MetaMask and GIWA still have no token, and Polymarket is blocked in India.
That is the honest state of play. Most "best airdrops this month" lists mix live claims, rumours and paid placements in one ranked table. This one sorts every project by what has actually been confirmed, and adds the India-specific catches the global lists leave out.
Which crypto airdrops are actually paying out in October 2026?
Here is the status board, as checked on 12 October 2026. "Confirmed" means the project itself has published it, not that a blog said so.
| Project | What you actually do | Token today | Airdrop status | India note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grass | Run an app that shares your unused internet bandwidth | GRASS, trading since Jan 2025 | Live claim: Stage 2, paid in USDC, deadline 22 Jan 2027 | Check Grass's restricted-jurisdiction list |
| Polymarket | Trade prediction markets | None | Signalled, not confirmed: an executive said a token is coming, the help centre says no plans | Blocked in India since May 2026 |
| MetaMask | Swap and use the MetaMask wallet | None (MASK not launched) | Speculative: past rewards were paid in LINEA, not MASK | Available, but no token exists |
| GIWA Chain | Use the Sepolia testnet | None | Speculative: mainnet not live, no token announced | Testnet only |
| Nodepay | Run a browser extension that shares bandwidth | NC, trading near $0.001 | Unverified: current season status not confirmed | Token value has collapsed |
If you only read one row, read the first. Grass is the only project here with money that has a claim button today.
Is the Grass airdrop still worth joining?
For past users, yes, go and claim. For new users, not for this round.
Grass's official Stage 2 page says rewards cover bandwidth shared during Epochs 1 to 19, which ran from 14 October 2024 to 8 June 2026. You qualify if you earned more than zero Network Points in that window. Rewards are paid in USDC, with no new GRASS tokens minted, and the claim opened on 22 July 2026. It runs for six months, to 22 January 2027, and Grass keeps anything left unclaimed.
The payout maths explains why so many users were disappointed:
- Grass awarded a pool of 1 million Network Points per day, worth $0.0049 USDC each.
- Network Points earned on the Android app got a 10x bonus, the desktop app 5x, and the Chrome extension the standard rate.
- Grass says 150,000 users received about 90% of the network's traffic, because the network prioritises stable, residential, high-demand connections.
Run the numbers: 1 million points a day × $0.0049 × the 602 days of Stage 2 comes to about $2.95 million. That matches the roughly $3 million pool reported by crypto news sites. Split across millions of users and weighted heavily towards a small group of power nodes, most casual participants got single-digit dollars.
Should you install Grass today? Only if you accept that you're farming a future round that hasn't been announced. Reports of a separate 170 million GRASS token distribution "later in 2026" have not been confirmed by Grass. We covered the app's trade-offs in detail in Is Grass legit?
How to claim safely: log in only at app.grass.io, open the Allocation page and claim to the in-app wallet or your own. Grass says it charges a $0.15 wallet fee per transaction, plus Solana network fees. Grass also says it will never DM you first or ask for your seed phrase.
Is there a Polymarket airdrop, and can Indians use Polymarket?
There is no Polymarket token, no snapshot date and no published eligibility rules. Polymarket's chief marketing officer said on a podcast in October 2025 that "there will be a token, there will be an airdrop". The platform's own help centre still says it has not announced plans for any airdrop or token generation event. Treat it as signalled, not confirmed.
For Indian readers, the bigger point is legal, not speculative. India's online gaming rules, in force from 1 May 2026, treat prediction markets as money games. The IT ministry (MeitY) issued a blocking order against Polymarket around 21 May 2026. It had already warned VPN providers in April against helping Indian users reach blocked platforms. Farming a possible Polymarket airdrop from India means using a blocked service through a workaround. We would not recommend it, and no airdrop is worth that legal exposure.
Is MetaMask launching a MASK token?
Not as of October 2026. MetaMask ran a rewards programme whose first season reportedly ran from 28 October 2025 to 23 January 2026 and paid out more than $30 million in LINEA tokens, not MASK. Recent reporting says a MASK token is being evaluated with no launch date. MetaMask's own help page reportedly says there are no current plans.
The practical rule: any site, Telegram group or DM offering to let you "claim MASK now" is a phishing attempt. If a token ever launches, the announcement will come from MetaMask's official channels.
Does GIWA Chain have an airdrop?
No. GIWA is the Ethereum Layer 2 being built by Dunamu, the company behind Upbit, on Optimism's OP Stack. On 27 September 2026, GIWA publicly said its mainnet had not launched. Its documentation lists only Sepolia testnet contracts, with mainnet marked as under development. There is no GIWA token and no announced airdrop.
Using the testnet costs you only time and testnet gas, and it may or may not ever count for anything. Our GIWA Chain airdrop guide covers what the project is and what testnet participation involves.
What happened to Nodepay?
Nodepay's NC token launched and trades on several exchanges, but at around $0.001, with an all-time low recorded in June 2026 on CryptoRank. Third-party guides say a new "season" is live and that staking NC is now required to keep earning. We could not confirm either from an official 2026 announcement, so treat those claims as unverified. Like Grass, the extension works by sharing your bandwidth.
How are crypto airdrops taxed in India?
There is no specific Income Tax Department guidance on airdrops, but the common reading among tax guides is that you can be taxed twice:
- When you receive it: the rupee value on the day you get the tokens is treated as income from other sources, taxed at your normal slab rate. Gift rules may apply below ₹50,000 a year in total, a point tax advisers interpret differently.
- When you sell or swap it: the gain is taxed at a flat 30% plus 4% cess as a virtual digital asset, with no deduction for losses elsewhere.
- TDS: a 1% TDS applies when you transfer crypto above ₹10,000 (₹50,000 for specified persons). It applies to transfers, not to receiving the airdrop.
A stablecoin payout like Grass's USDC is still a crypto asset for tax purposes. The Income Tax Act 2025, in force from 1 April 2026, renumbers these sections but keeps the 30% rate and 1% TDS. Our Schedule VDA guide explains how to report it. This is general information, not tax advice, so check your own case with a chartered accountant.
How do you avoid airdrop scams?
Airdrop season is scam season. The rules that protect you are simple and non-negotiable:
- Claim only from the official domain you've typed yourself, never from a link in a DM, comment or ad.
- No real project needs your seed phrase. Anyone asking for your 12 or 24 words is stealing.
- Check what you're installing. Bandwidth apps run in the background on your connection. Use a separate browser profile from the one holding your wallets.
- Buy hardware wallets only from the maker or a reseller it lists. This month Ledger confirmed a hidden chip in a device sold through a Southeast Asian reseller. Trackers link it to $86 million or more in drained wallets, though Ledger hasn't confirmed the total.
- Ignore "claim now" urgency. Real claims, like Grass's, stay open for months.
Points and testnet activity are not guaranteed to convert into anything of value. Review any app's permissions before installing, use only official links, and watch for phishing: fake "airdrop" sites and apps are common in this space.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Grass airdrop still claimable in October 2026? Yes. Grass's Stage 2 rewards, paid in USDC, opened on 22 July 2026 and can be claimed at app.grass.io until 22 January 2027. Only bandwidth shared between 14 October 2024 and 8 June 2026 counts, so new users can't qualify for this round.
How much did Grass users actually get in Stage 2? Most casual users got small amounts, often single-digit dollars. The pool was about $3 million, Network Points were worth $0.0049 each, and Grass says 150,000 users handled about 90% of the network's traffic, so rewards concentrated among high-uptime Android and desktop nodes.
Is there a Polymarket token airdrop? Not yet. A Polymarket executive said in October 2025 that a token and airdrop are coming, but the help centre says no plans have been announced, and there is no date, snapshot or eligibility rule. Polymarket is also blocked in India.
Is Polymarket legal in India? No. India's online gaming rules, effective 1 May 2026, treat prediction markets as money games, and the IT ministry issued a blocking order against Polymarket in May 2026. Accessing it through a VPN carries legal risk.
Has MetaMask launched the MASK token? No. As of October 2026 no MASK token exists, and MetaMask's past rewards season paid out in LINEA tokens instead. Any site offering a MASK claim today is a scam.
Are crypto airdrops taxable in India? Generally yes, twice: the value on receipt is commonly treated as income at your slab rate, and any later sale or swap is taxed at 30% plus cess, with 1% TDS on transfers above ₹10,000. There is no specific official guidance, so confirm your case with a chartered accountant.
What is the safest way to farm airdrops? Use only official links you type yourself, never share a seed phrase, keep farming apps in a separate browser profile from your wallets, and treat every "claim now" DM as phishing. Assume any reward could be worth nothing.
